This is the oldest continually owned estate west of the Hudson River with over two hundred years of experience hosting guests.
The Wadsworth Homestead is situated at the south end of Geneseo’s Main Street. Although it is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and SUNY Geneseo, it sits a world apart on 300 acres of pristine land. The historic home overlooks the Genesee Valley to the west and is surrounded by ancient oak trees and verdant fields and forests. The home has a large dining room, 2 drawing rooms, a large hall with winding staircase, ornate library and and 6 fireplaces on the first floor. A circular flow to the rooms makes this a wonderful house for parties and social events. To the west a large porch overlooking the valley runs the entire length of the house and is ideal for cocktails.
For large parties and weddings, a tent will be situated on the former tennis court (providing a hard surface) that overlooks the oval pool and nearby gardens. Mature trees make this a wonderfully protected area. The former bathhouses have been converted to comfortable, handicap accessible, restrooms.
The second floor rooms of the Homestead have been renovated and are available to rent during weddings and large group functions.
Parking is ample and close.
