Sarah & Michael in New York

Michael had been working a lot of overtime at work,
which put a damper on our tradition of trying new
restaurants once in a while. It was his first week off
overtime, he told me to pick a restaurant I had been
wanting to go to, and to choose one that was a little
fancier. I chose Tapas on St Paul. I had been there
before and loved it, and wanted Michael to experience
it there. He made the reservations for Friday January
13th. When we arrived there, we were the first ones
for dinner. The host took us downstairs and seated us
in the alcove underneath the staircase which had one
small table and two chairs. We ordered champagne and
were looking through the menu when Michael said in a
stern voice "we need to talk". He proceeded to take
off the promise ring from my finger that he had given
me on Christmas Eve... just two weeks earlier. Michael
has always been a jokester, so I thought he was just
kidding around. I tried to think of a reason why he
would be breaking up with me, but could not think of
one, we had always been very happy. He then asked me
"why do you think I took off the ring, Sarah?" I was
thinking the only other reason could be that he was
proposing, but it didn't make sense since he just gave
me the promise ring. I again thought he was joking
around, so I looked at him and said "stop joking
around, I know you're not proposing". He shook his
head "yes", but I still did not believe him until he
pulled a small box from his pocket. I immediately
broke into tears and he got down on one knee and asked
me to marry him. I was so happy I could hardly speak
to say yes. Michael has never been so serious in his
life as he proceeded to talk to me about marriage and
how we will work together and communicate through any
problems in this lifetime commitment. Just when I
thought this was the most romantic evening in my whole
life, Michael said this was such a hard decision
because he had to give up buying the newest SONY TV in
order to buy the ring, and I could always give the
ring back. Typical male, but I love him to death
anyway!
